Policies & Procedures
The following policies and proceures page will answer most of your questions and will help provide the best service possible for you and your pets. 
  • Pets: We do not accept clients with pets who have a history of biting or aggressive behavior.  We will sit for dogs, cats and other small animals.  At this time, we do not have a sitter for horses or other large animals. 
For our safety and your pet's safety, vaccinations and flea treatments must be up-to-date.  Collars with identification tags must be worn by all pets.  We will not walk dogs off leash for any reason.  Walks are done in your own neighborhood.  We do not transport pets to dog parks or to groomers.  We prefer that cats be kept indoors during the time we are caring for them, even if they are "outdoor" kitties. 

If your pets have special needs, we will work hard to meet them.  If we feel we don't have the experience to take proper care of your special-needs pet, we will not accept the job. 

If your pet becomes ill, we will use our discretion in taking your pet to the vet.  The pet owner will be responsible for the vet bills.  If time is not a crucial element in treatment, we will make every attempt to notify and discuss the situation with the pet owner or designated contact person before seeking veterinary care.  If treatment is required, we will transport the pet to the vet.  Additional time spent for emergency care for your pet or home will be billed at $30 per hour.
  • Job Sharing: We do not job share with your friends and neighbors.  Exceptions may be made for immediate family members. 
  • Back-up Sitter: In case of personal emergency or illness, a trained back-up sitter will step in for your assigned sitter.  For overnight stays, you may be assigned a pair of sitters who will job share. 
  • Payment: Payment is due in full upon completion of service (except as noted below).  Cancellations require a 48-hour notice, otherwise you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee.  Payment in cash or check please.  Returned check charge is $35 plus bank fees. 
    • Holidays and Long Vacations: Reservations for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's or for any period of time over two weeks require a 50% deposit at the time of reservation.  The deposit for a holiday reservation canceled three weeks prior to the first visit is refunded in full, two weeks prior is 50% refundable, and less than two weeks is non-refundable. 
  • Keys: We require two keys to be given to us before you leave on your trip.  It is the owner's responsibility to make sure the house keys work in your door.  If a locksmith needs to be called because the key will not work, a $30 plus the locksmith's fee will be charged.
    • Keep-a-Key program: If you like our services and want to become a repeat customer, you might like to keep your house keys on file with us so you don't have to go through the hassle and expense of key pickup and drop-off.  We keep your keys in a secure place and they are number coded.
